The first season of the sci-fi series “Star Trek: Picard” debuts on free TV in February. All episodes will be shown over three days in RTLzwei’s linear program before moving to the free section of the RTL+ media library. “Picard” is also included in the paid subscription to Amazon Prime Video.

It starts on free TV on February 18 from 8:15 p.m. During the evening, RTLzwei shows the first four episodes of the series, which have a total running time of around three hours – not including commercial breaks. Episodes 5, 6 and 7 will air on February 19 from 8:15 p.m., before episodes 8 to 10 will air on February 20 from 8:15 p.m. It is the first time that “Star Trek: Picard” will be broadcast on German free TV.

The second season of “Star Trek: Picard” is also scheduled to start in February – but not on free TV. Instead, Season 2 will be available again on Amazon Prime Video. In the USA, “Picard” will be shown on the streaming service ch Paramount+, which is not yet available in Germany. He should come to Germany via Sky in 2022. It remains to be seen to what extent the start of Paramount+ in Germany will affect the streaming options of “Picard”.

The forthcoming launch of Paramount+ in Germany has already had consequences for another “Star Trek” series: “Discovery” has been removed from Netflix, and the new season 4 should not be available in Germany for the time being. After receiving engaging feedback from the community, rights holder CBS decided to air Season 4 of Discovery on Pluto TV.

Season 2 of “Star Trek: Picard” returns, among others, John de Lancie, who embodied the character Q in “The Next Generation”. In addition to John de Lancie, according to media reports, there will also be a reunion with LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher and Whoopie Goldberg, who as the mysterious Guinan ran Bar Ten Forward on the USS Enterprise.
