Star Trek Picard: Why the Series and Patrick Stewart Deserve Recognition at the Emmy Awards!

STAR TREK: PICARD

“Star Trek: Picard” Season 3 is sent into the Emmy race, the Oscar for series. Paramount+ has high hopes for Patrick Stewart and company, and we’ll tell you why we think they’re right to have those hopes!

  • Paramount+ has launched a campaign to get Star Trek: Picard Season 3 into the Emmy Awards.
  • The “Oscars for Series” will be awarded in September and no “Trek” series has been nominated since “Star Trek: The Next Century”.
  • For Patrick Stewart’s swan song as Picard, arguably his most famous role, a nomination would be the icing on the cake.

On September 18, 2023, the Emmy Awards will be presented to the best series released between June 2022 and May 2023. The Emmys are the series counterpart to the Oscars and the award is considered the highest US award in the TV and streaming sector.

This year, Paramount+ has high hopes of placing the sci-fi series Star Trek: Picard at the awards ceremony. It’s unlikely that a science fiction series will be popular there, and it hasn’t happened in the “Star Trek” universe since the seventh “Spaceship Enterprise – The Next Century” season in the 90s.

In the technical areas, the modern “Star Trek” series are regularly nominated for the Creative Arts Emmys, but it has never worked out in the main prize or in the actor categories. That’s about to change as a major campaign is launched to earn a few nominations for Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard.

The final season of the series was well received by fans and critics alike and received universal praise. The streaming numbers were also right and of the modern “Star Trek” series, “Picard” season 3 was the first to be at the top of all streaming services.

That must be worth something! Especially since Patrick Stewart certainly deserves a little credit for his swan song as Jean-Luc Picard. This role is one of the most recognizable figures in pop culture and Stewart has played the series for almost 40 years.

The distinguished actor has never received any major awards for his role as Picard. So now, awarding his Swan Song an Emmy would be a nice icing on the cake, especially since Patrick Stewart’s performance in the final season is one of his best performances in years.

It is also significant that “The Next Century” is the only “Star Trek” series to have ever been nominated for Best Series at the Emmys. It is precisely this crew, consisting of Picard, Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Worf (Michael Dorn) and Co., that is one of the most popular and strongest “Star Trek” icons.

With a nomination for “Star Trek: Picard” season 3, the circle would close: The final seasons of both “Star Trek” series with Stewart would be considered with nominations. We keep our fingers crossed!

Even before the Emmy Awards in September 2023, “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” season 2 starts on June 15. But the series is not the only one that will start in the Paramount + novelty program this year. We list you all “Star Trek” new releases!
