Star Trek Strange New Worlds: An Enemy From Their Own – Will Pike Be Put To The Test In Season 2?

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS

In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, Pike may have to take on an opponent from her own ranks. Is the next Star Trek villain right in Pike’s line of sight?

  • With Captain Batel, is the main villain for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” Season 2 already right under our noses?
  • She arrests Una and expresses her regrets to Pike. But is she on Pike’s side, or will she turn out to be a hardliner?
  • There is a lot of vicious prejudice against Augments in the Federation. And Una is an Augment.

In the Season 1 finale of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn) was taken away for violating Federation policy as an augment. It is particularly painful for Pike (Anson Mount) that it is his girlfriend Captain Batel (Melanie Scrofano) who arrests Una.

Captain Batel was introduced in the first episode and previously appeared to be caring and warm. She supports Captain Pike and the two have a casual intimate relationship. She will certainly suffer from the Una case, although Captain Batel regrets to Pike that she has to arrest Una, it’s the rule.

Pike swore to Una that he would defend her from Starfleet and the Federation, and he will not break that promise, even to Captain Batel. The question that now arises is whether this will make Captain Batel an opponent in Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The Augment Ban

Augments are genetically enhanced creatures. Augments are forbidden from becoming part of the Federation due to the Federation’s fear of a “new Khan”. Khan was also an Augment who became a superhuman of sorts through his genetic enhancements. There is harsh prejudice and hostility to Augments in Starfleet.

Star Trek: Captain Pike’s bad luck with his girlfriends

If Batel turns out to be a hardliner who will speak out strongly against Augments, then drama is inevitable. It wouldn’t be the first time that Captain has had bad luck with his girlfriends because moral differences become irreconcilable.

In the first season we meet Alora (Lindy Booth). She holds a high office on the planet Majalis, where a child is regularly sacrificed willingly to ensure the prosperity and health of the entire people. A sacrifice that, according to Pike’s moral standards, is too high.

Star Trek: We know that Pike and Batel are not made to last!

Captain Batel is a character from Strange New Worlds. She does not appear in “Starship Enterprise”, which takes place seven years later in the “Star Trek” chronology. When Pike has his accident, there is no partner or family in his life. From this we can conclude that Captain Batel and Captain Pike are likely to separate.

The only girlfriend who ends up doing well (most likely) is Vina on the planet Talos IV. She was played by Melissa George in Star Trek: Discovery. After Pike’s accident, Spock takes him back there and he lives on Talos IV with Vina.

A start date for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” Season 2 has not yet been set. However, the shooting has already been completed. First of all, “Star Trek: Picard” season 3 starts on February 17, 2023. We list all “Star Trek” new releases!
