  • In “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” Spock’s love life is discussed. Ethan Peck now reveals a little about it.
  • Peck first played the role in Star Trek: Discovery. Spock now serves under Pike aboard the Enterprise.
  • In addition to his love life, Peck also talks about Spock’s iconic hairstyle and there are new pictures of the “Star Trek” series.

“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is a prequel to “Starship Enterprise” starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy as Kirk and Spock. Ethan Peck succeeds Nimoy and slips into the role of Mr. Spock, whom he previously had in “Star Trek : Discovery” played.

In view of the upcoming start on the US streaming service Paramount +, the “Star Trek” star is now talking about the role and the new series. “I think Spock is a character who, deep down, is searching for himself, especially at this point in life,” Ethan Peck told TVLine.

“He’s experimenting with how human he should be and how much of a Vulcan he is, both of which he has very few points of contact with. He’s a little out of touch. […] Michael Burnham was a great teacher for him to be human, a righteous person and a leader.”

However, after the events of “Star Trek: Discovery” season 2, Spock misses the presence of his adoptive sister and so Captain Pike becomes his mentor: “Captain Pike is a great role model for him.”

Peck also touches on Spock’s romance, which was already hinted at in the trailer. It’s very uncharacteristic for a Vulcan to show emotion, and little of Spock’s love life has been shown so far: “We’ve seen a bit of romance in Spock’s life, but not like it is now in ‘Strange New Worlds’.”

“We’ve had a lot of conversations about what’s appropriate, what’s Vulcan enough, and what’s maybe too human,” Peck explains of the Strange New Worlds team’s approach.[Spock] needs to find himself before moving on because he’s been ashamed of his human side for a long time.”

Romance with his fiancée T’Pring (Gia Sandhu) is for Spock a balancing act between his Vulcan and human life. It underlines the journey, the development that Spock goes through in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”.

Peck also touched on Spock’s iconic hairstyle, the bangs: “There was a lot of discussion about what it should look like and how long it should be, that was largely decided by our ‘Hair and Make-Up’ team, with a little Input from me. I was like, what’s the impression of the original Spock? Let’s not copy it, because I can’t really be Leonard Nimoy. I’m not Leonard Nimoy.”

It would be about capturing the spirit, not about being a possibly bad copy of the original. A commendable and well-considered approach, in our opinion.

In addition to the insight that Ethan Peck was able to offer us, a bunch of new pictures of the entire Enterprise crew from Captain Pike (Anson Mount) to Spock and Sister Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) were also released. Check out the pictures here:
