A new "Star Trek" documentary is to be financed through crowdfunding. The fans are extremely generous.

Last year, the popular science fiction series "Star Trek: Raumschiff Voyager" – also "Star Trek: Voyager" – celebrated its 25th anniversary. Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew, 65) and her crew should now get their own documentary. And this is apparently already extremely popular among the fans.

The production company 455 Films ("For the Love of Spock") has already raised significantly more via a crowdfunding campaign than the original target of 150,000 US dollars to finance the documentary. In the campaign, which is due to end in early April, a little less than 7,000 fans have already donated more than 715,000 US dollars, which is the equivalent of almost 600,000 euros.

According to the company, it is currently in an early stage of production. "The cast and crew of this groundbreaking series deserve the highest recognition – and with your help we will make it happen," says the documentary's "Indiegogo" page.
