Star Wars Andor: The latest trailer marks the launch of the Rebellion

During the D23 Expo on Saturday, Lucasfilm revealed the final trailer for the Star Wars: Andor series which takes place before the events of 2016’s Rogue One movie. It reveals a little more about the creation of the Rebellion.

The Walt Disney Company’s announcement day at D23 Expo last weekend started with a bang when Lucasfilm revealed the latest trailer for the Star Wars Andor series. After a first trailer at the Star Wars Celebration then a second which announced a change in the broadcast date, this latest trailer finally reveals the beginnings of the Rebel Alliance.

Like other series like Obi-Wan or Ahsoka, Andor is considered a major event for the Star Wars franchise. Not only does the series bring back Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) and give us a first glimpse of what politics will be like at the time of the Empirebut it is alsoan exciting thriller.

The Rebellion is on the march in the Andor series

Andor is set during a time when the Empire was rapidly rising to its most powerful position, and will feature the character Cassian Andor just before his mission in the movie Rogue One. However, a rebellion was brewing just as quickly, and the series will explore both Andor’s role and the larger movement, which means the return of the most emblematic characters of the film.

In the final trailer, the Empire is firmly in control of the galaxy, and we witness the beginnings of the creation of the Rebellion. This trailer highlights Stellan Skarsgård’s villain, Luthen Rael, and shows the germs of Mon Mothma’s decision to turn against the Empire and join the rebel cause.

We will soon have the opportunity to know more about the series, since the premiere will take place on September 21 with no less than 3 episodes available at launch on Disney+. It was revealed during the conference that the teams are already planning to start filming the second and final season, which will consist of 12 episodes.
