Star Wars: discover an episode made in France, a first in the history of the franchise!

An episode of the second season of the animated series “Star Wars: Visions” has been produced by the French studio La Cachette, marking a great first in the history of the intergalactic franchise!

Never has a French director been at the helm of a Star Wars production so far, an observation that applies both to the eleven films released in cinemas (three trilogies, two spin-offs) and to the four live-action series. (from The Mandalorian to Andor), and animated productions (The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch…).

But after 46 years of waiting, the second season of the Star Wars: Visions anthology allows us to finally discover an episode of the franchise produced by a French team! The episode Dancer and spy was indeed designed by the La Cachette studio, under the direction of screenwriter and director Julien Chheng.

This Season 2 episode features a cabaret on a planet occupied by Stormtroopers. A dancer named Loi’e is secretly operating as a member of the rebellion, but her cover is soon to be compromised. Then begins a breathtaking chase between the latter and the soldiers of the imperial army…

It should be noted that French actors also participated in the dubbing of the episode, both for the original version in English and in the French version. And not least, since the main role of this adventure has been entrusted to Camille Cottin, while his sidekick Jon is camped by Lambert Wilson.

Founded in 2014 by former students of the Gobelins school, the Parisian animation studio La Cachette is particularly known for having worked on the Primal series by Genndy Tartakovsky, but also on an episode of Love, Death & Robots. The studio is currently working on a series adapted from the comic strip Le Collège noir, the first original production of the DNA platform!

The Star Wars: Visions anthology offers creators the opportunity to explore the Star Wars universe, through independent episodes not attached to the official chronology of the franchise. While the first season brought together Japanese talents, the second opened up to the rest of the world, with talents from Chile, South Africa, India and even South Korea.

The two seasons of the anthological animated series Star Wars: Visions can be found now on Disney+.
