Star Wars: Han Solo has a girlfriend in this deleted scene that no one knows!

Originally, in the famous cantina scene, Han Solo was to be in the arms of a woman when he met Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Before becoming the monument of science fiction that we know today, the very first feature film in the Star Wars saga (i.e. Episode IV, aka A New Hope) underwent many changes. many changes.

Deleted scenes

This project, which many at the time considered hazardous, has in fact undergone many rewrites. And even once production was officially launched, several sequences that had been filmed were ultimately cut in the final edit.

This is particularly the case of the famous meeting between Luke and the famous smuggler Han Solo, in the Mos Eisley cantina. An iconic scene from the Star Wars saga which marked the very first on-screen appearance of the character played by Harrison Ford.

A girlfriend for Han Solo

As recently recalled an article from the SlashFilm sitein an earlier version of the sequence (see above), the smuggler was kissing a young woman (probably his girlfriend) when Luke and Obi-Wan came to sit at his table.

For reasons that we do not know, this version was therefore ousted, even if the British actress Jenny Cresswell, who played Han Solo’s companion, can however be seen among the other customers of the cantina, talking to a Rodian.

Of course, as all viewers of the original trilogy know, Han did not remain “solo” for long, since from The Empire Strikes Back an unforgettable romance began between him and Princess Leia, twin sister of Luke Skywalker, whom he helped free from the Death Star in the second part of A New Hope.
