The Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi will begin streaming on Disney+ in late May 2022 and will bring back Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen in their iconic roles as Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader. Now, Ian McDiarmid is hinting that his role as Emperor could return as well.

The actor, who has been playing the role of Sheev Palpatines since the 1980s, was at a convention recently and let the US magazine Star Wars News Net get carried away with a brief statement: “There’s a certain series that’s about to start, the exactly then plays to which I [damit meint er seine Rolle] perceived as particularly active.”

He’s referring to either “Obi-Wan Kenobi” or “Andor”. Both series are set in the Star Wars chronology during the period when Emperor Palpatine was at the height of his power: “Whether you will see my physical body or not I can’t say. But you will certainly feel my presence. ”

McDiarmid had previously commented on a possible return. The star also starred in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ and was heard as a voice actor in ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ Disney and Lucasfilm would not have to do much convincing to bring McDiarmid back.

We will probably only find out whether we will see the Emperor at the start of the series. On May 27, 2022, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” starts with a double episode. Then it continues with one episode each week in the Disney+ news program. We list you all “Star Wars” new releases!
