Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order could have had a woman and/or a black person as the protagonist

The formalization of a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 seems like only a matter of days now, as all rumors point to an announcement during Star Wars Celebration, which kicks off on May 26. And if the fans of the first are eager to find Cal, we learn that the character could have been very different from what he is today. Bearing the features of Cameron Monaghan, the protagonist of this episode was not always a white man, as we learn from a former employee at Respawn.

A protagonist who caused debate within the studio?

On Twitter, Nora Shramekwho worked at Respawn as lightning artistsaid that initially a lot of developers had other ideas in mind regarding the appearance of Cal Kestis, since many of them wanted the protagonist to be a woman and/or a black person.

This was rejected, however, and Nora Shramek explains why. According to her, these ideas were put aside because two black characters were already very present in the plot (Cal was created after the others), while Rey, the heroine of the last trilogy of films, was already very prominent in the license Star Wars. A reasoning that will raise many eyebrows.

It is finally the actor Cameron Monaghan who has been chosen to lend his features and his voice to Cal, and who will return in a highly anticipated sequel, which we should discover very soon.
