If Solo was not really the most popular film in the Star Wars saga, its screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan explained to our colleagues at Comic Book that the possibility of a sequel on Disney + appeals to him. However, now is not the right time. The platform is already full of very good films and series from the world of George Lucas.
In 2018, Disney is unveiling a new Star Wars spin-off based on one of the saga’s most popular characters: Han Solo. All the elements were there to generate a nice success, especially since the previous spin-off, Rogue One, was acclaimed by both critics and the public. However, the sauce did not take. To date, Solo is the lowest-grossing film in the history of the saga.
Also, few fans today expect to see a sequel land, even only on Disney+. Without completely losing hope. Its director himself, Ron Howard, told The Hollywood Reporter that “there is a lot of talent in Solo, and that [il] would love to see some of these characters again” on small or large screen. And he’s not the only one on his team to wish bring these characters back to life.

Solo screenwriter would like to make a sequel for Disney+
Jonathan Kasdan, screenwriter of Solo, has indeed confided in our colleagues from the ComicBook site on the question. The man who wrote the film alongside his father, himself a screenwriter for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, admits to having already thought about the question. While acknowledging that Disney+ is already awash with great Star Wars contentincluding the popular Andor series, which Kasdan describes as “the best Star Wars series in history”.
“I think if there’s a reason to do a Solo 2, it’s gotta be a good reason”explains the latter. “But I will no doubt be happy to participate in the project.” A sequel which is therefore not really relevant at the moment, but which is not to be excluded. It remains to be hoped that the stars of the galaxy, as far away as it is, align correctly.
