Disney has just revealed the list of new films and series coming to Disney+ in 2024. Between Star Wars: The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, the Marvel’s Echo series or Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, there will be plenty to do on the streaming platform next year.
While season 2 of the excellent series Andor should not arrive before 2025 to the great dismay of fans, Disney has just revealed the exhaustive list of new series and films coming to Disney+ in 2024. And suffice to say that your viewing schedule risks being loaded with new releases planned in the Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic or even Star universes without forgetting the original European and French productions.
Without further ado, let’s see together what the streaming platform has in store for us next year.
Star Wars series/films to watch on Disney+ in 2024
We start first with the new features coming to the Star Wars universe. As said above, we will not be entitled to season 2 of Andor, but that doesn’t matter, the big-eared firm has planned something to satisfy fans of galaxies far, far away. Indeed, two Star Wars series will see the light of day on the platform in 2024, namely: Star Wars The Acolyte and Star Wars Skeleton Crew.
Star Wars: The Acolyte
The Acolyte will plunge viewers into the heart of an intrigue rich in dark secrets and dark powers, in the last days of the High Republic (just before Order 66). It follows a former padawan who reunites with her former Jedi master to investigate a series of sordid crimes. They will discover that the forces they are about to face are a thousand times more formidable than they would have imagined.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
The tone promises to be lighter with Skeleton Crew, a live action series in which we will follow four children who make a mysterious discovery on their home planet, before getting lost in a galaxy as mysterious as it is dangerous. According to the first information on the series, the events would take place at the same time as those of The Mandalorian, while we will find Jon Watts, the director of the last Spider-Man films for Marvel, in the artistic direction.
Marvel series/films to watch on Disney+ in 2024
We continue this overview with the new Marvel products coming to the platform. After the excellent season 2 of Loki, the House of Ideas plans to launch two new series on Disney+ in 2024: Echo and Agatha Darkhold Diaries.
Echo
This new series will highlight Echo, a character introduced for the first time in the MCU thanks to the Hawkeye series. Available in full from January 10, 2024, the show returns to the origins of the character of Maya Lopez, who will have to face the responsibilities of her terrible actions in New York. Pursued by Wilson Fisk’s criminal empire, she will have to face her past, reconnect with her Native American origins and embrace the sense of family and community.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries
Previously called Agatha: House of the Darkness, the series centered on the witch Agatha Harkness will make its debut on Disney+ in 2024. To the delight of fans, Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role, good news after her great performance in WandaVision . For the moment, we don’t know anything about the plot, but there is plenty to do, the character having a rather chaotic journey. Normal when you have lived more than 300 years.
X-Men 97
In short, Disney has also confirmed the release of a new animated series about our favorite mutants, namely X-Men 97. Here again, apart from a launch announced in 2024, we have no more information on the show.
Original European productions to watch on Disney+ in 2024
After the excellent series Tout va bien with Virginie Efira and Nicole Garcia, Disney will launch two new French series in 2024: Kaiser Karl and Children Are Kings. We are also expecting Nell Rebelle from European productions.
Kaiser Karl
With Kaiser Karl, spectators will be able to discover the rise of Karl Lagerfeld in the world of Parisian haute couture in the 1970s. In 1972, Karl Lagerfeld, 38, aspired to become the most famous French couturier in the world. It’s difficult to achieve this when everyone only has one name in mind: Yves Saint Laurent.
Children are kings
The series Les Enfants Rois describes our current era, in which the constant staging of oneself can lead irremediably to drama. This is what will happen to this family.
Nell Rebelle
Wrongly accused of murder, Nell Jackson is forced to flee with her sisters. To survive, she will become an outlaw, a highwayman. A promising series by Ben Taylor (Sex Education), with Louisa Harland in the lead role (Derry Girls).
