Star Wars: the director of Spider-Man No Way Home at the helm of a new series


The director of the Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland will create a new Star Wars series, featuring teenage heroes and taking place shortly after the end of “Return of the Jedi”.

While we will discover in barely ten days the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, a new Star Wars series has just been officially launched by the Disney + platform, as revealed by our colleagues from Vanity Fair. Developed by Jon Watts (the director of the three Spiderman by Tom Holland), this production will be aimed at a young audience with adolescent characters as heroes.

If the plot and the title of this series are not yet known, this project is nevertheless described by the editorial staff of Vanity Fair as “a galactic take on the coming-of-age stories of 80s movies”but also a tribute to Amblin Entertainment productions, Steven Spielberg’s company.

Released from his commitments to Marvel Studios following his departure from the production of the reboot of the Fantastic Four, Jon Watts occupies the functions of co-creator (with screenwriter Chris Ford) and executive producer of the program; it is at this stage unconfirmed whether or not he will direct episodes of the series.

Outraged Obi-Wan Kenobithe next Star Wars series expected on the Disney+ platform are Andor, the prequel to Rogue One (released at the end of the summer), the third season of Mandalorian (end of the year or beginning of 2023) and Ahsoka with Rosario Dawson ( during 2023).
