May 4th May be with you! On “Star Wars” day it is more advisable than ever to look into the TV and cinema future of the star saga.

It is thanks to a charming translation error that May 4th (May, the 4th “) has been declared international” Star Wars “day. And what better way to celebrate the holiday for all fans of the galaxy far, far away than To look at the wide range of series and cinema productions that Disney still has in the pipeline? In any case, it will not be boring in the coming years – a dozen films and series that are specifically planned to take care of that.

“The Mandalorian” and more – the series

Four series are already in the making. After the immense success of the first two seasons and the epochal cliffhanger of the last episode so far, a third season of “The Mandalorian” was mandatory. The most burning question will of course be whether Mando (Pedro Pascal, 46) and Baby Yoda will meet again – in any case, it is hard to imagine that the series makers can / want / may do without their absolute fan favorite. In early 2022, when season three is due to appear, we will find out.

“The Book of Boba Fett”

Even earlier we will see the hero’s journey of a favorite character of the “Star Wars” nostalgics. “The Mandalorian” brought back bounty hunter Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison, 60), after a brief guest appearance in season two, he was presented with a spin-off called “The Book of Boba Fett” on a silver platter – including his own palace, kindly of Jabba the Hutt provided. Later this year, more precisely in December, “The Book of Boba Fett” should be shown via Disney +.

“Obi Wan Kenobi”

Another time will be the story of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. The eponymous series, in which Ewan McGregor (50) plays Obi-Wan again, deals with the time between the prequel and the original trilogy. So we will learn how the Jedi degenerated into the hermit on Tatooine after the creation of the Empire, who then eventually served as the age-wise mentor of a certain Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill, 69). “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is planned for the year 2022.

“Andor”

Series still without a specific release

Three more series are already in the planning stage, but they do not yet have a specific start date. On the one hand, there is another spin-off series from “The Mandalorian” called “Ahsoka”. The heroine of the same name, a Jedi student of Anakin Skywalker, has long been known to fans of the animated series “The Clone Wars”. In season two of “The Mandalorian” she finally brought Rosario Dawson (41) to real life for the first time in a short appearance. “Ahsoka” will be set at the same time as “The Mandalorian” and will be the first “Star Wars” series with a female main character.

“Rangers of the New Republic” and “The Acolyte” are also scheduled for an unspecified time. First will revolve around soldiers of the New Republic and thus also play in the times of “The Mandalorian”. For “The Acolyte”, however, it goes way back in time. She is supposed to play during the final days of the so-called High Republic, which would place her about a century before the Skywalker era.

Not much concrete yet: The “Star Wars” films

While the future of the series of “Star Wars” is already brightly lit, the movies are still fishing in the dark as far as possible. After the finale of the latest trilogy about Rey (Daisy Ridley, 29), it is time to take a break before the world-famous “Star Wars” logo can be seen on the screen again. In all likelihood, the start will be made with the film “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron”, which has been announced for 2023 and will be made by “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins (49). The only thing known about the plot is that the flick is supposed to revolve around a new generation of X-Wing pilots.

And that’s it for specific cinema projects. Many films are still being planned, but with the exception of the well-known directors, not even a working title is known for them. A separate trilogy by “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson (47) is also planned. And Taika Waititi (45) and Kevin Feige (47) should each be allowed to contribute their own strip.

A little more is known about at least one TV movie. With “A Droid Story” the most popular droid duo, R2-D2 and C-3PO, is to get its own film, which is to appear on Disney +. You, too, have the start date in the “Star Wars” stars.
