The animated anthology returns for a second season on Disney+right on time for Star Wars Day.

In 2021, Disney and Lucasfilm offered with Star Wars: Visions a refreshing dive into the universe imagined by George Lucas.

A critically acclaimed breath of fresh air

This series, made up of 9 episodes, all produced by illustrious Japanese animation studios, brought a fresh look to the saga. For our part, we were particularly seduced by this original, sometimes radical proposal, and we invite you to discover or rediscover our complete opinion on this first season of Star Wars: Visions.

Lucasfilm had indicated during the last Star Wars Celebration, which was held in May 2022 near Anaheim, California, that it was currently working on a season 2, but since then the information has been more than thin.

The wait is now coming to an end. Indeed, the official Star Wars Twitter account revealed both the broadcast date, but also the artists invited to revisit the smallest corners of this galaxy far, far away.

Aardman and a French studio on the program for this second season

Star Wars: Visions will therefore return on May 4, 2023 on our screens, with a broadcast obviously planned on Disney +. If you are a fan of the saga, you probably know that this date is not a coincidence. May 4 is indeed the day of Star Wars Day, the now famous “ May the Fourth » which recalls the no less famous mantra « May the Force be with you uttered by the Jedi through the 9 films and the many derivative works of the license.

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced the various studios participating in this new anthology, this time with an international distribution. Among the names best known to the general public, we can cite the British Aardman, a specialist in plasticine films and happy father of Wallace and Gromit as well as chicken run.

Cocorico, Studio La Cachette (France) has also been announced to produce an episode. Also attending will be 88 Pictures (India), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), D’ART Shtajio (Japan), El Guiri (Spain), PunkRobot (Chile), Studio Mir (South Korea) and Triggerfish (South Africa). .

As with the first season, creatives are not required to adhere to the official timeline of the saga Star Wars and are free to explore new stories, even if they conflict with the sacrosanct continuity maintained by Disney. We can’t wait to discover these 9 new episodes next spring.

Disney+

  • Disney classics in one place
  • Exclusive Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars series
  • 4K, HDR and Atmos at no extra cost

It was highly anticipated and did not disappoint. Disney+ is not a Netflix rival, but a complementary offer, geared particularly towards children and more broadly towards the family. The Star universe, meanwhile, remains the poor relation of the platform and will require several years of work to catch up with its competitors.
