Starfield: 500 people worked on Bethesda’s biggest project


Since 2018, many players have been waiting impatiently Starfield, for several reasons, and in particular because it is Bethesda which is behind, but also because it is about the first new license of the studio for 25 years, which is not nothing. Over time, we learned a little more about the gameplay, and the world we are going to discover, with for example 1000 planets to explore.

Of course, Starfield is one of Bethesda’s biggest projects, and in an interview with PCGamesN, Nate Purkeypile, a former artist who has worked on several games, from Fallout 3 to Starfield, gave some background on the RPG. For instance, the greatness of the title and the fact that it is a new license are big differences and above all the main challenge. To make Fallout 3 or Skyrim, the developers had a base, a universe already created. In the case of Starfield, you have to start from scratch.

Bethesda has given itself the means of its ambitions, since in the words of Nate Purkeypile, at least 500 people have worked on Starfield, whether on the technical aspect, the story or any other fundamental point in a game. For comparison, Fallout 76, released in 2018, had seen “ 200 developers at most “.

The future will tell if the world of Starfield is as ambitious as Bethesda wishes, and imagines some players. If its release was scheduled for this month of November, it was finally postponed to the first half of 2023, without us knowing more, for the moment.
