Thing promised, thing due: Bethesda regaled us with a video extremely rich in information on the highly anticipated Starfield.

Enough to have stars in your eyes to wait before its launch, scheduled for September 6 on PC, Xbox Series X | S and Game Pass.

A Constellation of things to do

After a first presentation of gameplay last year and a few postponements, Bethesda was expected at the turn during this Xbox Games Showcase, as part of the Summer Game Fest. It must be said that things were not going very well for Xbox lately, with a boss Phil Spencer a bit pessimistic. The studio behind Skyrim And Fallout 4 however, seems to have pulled out all the stops with a very generous video.

For this new literally galactic open world, Bethesda intends in any case to push the characteristic freedom of its games to full power. In its simplest device, Starfield will offer us to embody a character recruited by Constellation, a league of explorers in search of the greatest mysteries of the galaxy.

This freedom begins with precisely the very advanced creation of our character, from his appearance to his vocation through his skills. There will obviously be something for all tastes and all styles of the game. A generous customization that we will also find on the side of weapons, its spaceships and even outposts on various planets.

No Bethesda’s Sky

In Starfield, it will not be a question of being satisfied with a vast open world, but of a real galaxy of open worlds with, we are told, thousands of planets to explore. Each will have its own biome and ambiance depending on its place in a given system.

We take this opportunity to highlight the fact that the title seems very solid both in its artistic direction called ” NASA-punk » as well as on the technical level with in particular globally convincing lighting effects. Bethesda requires, however, we will probably not be immune to more or less crazy bugs.

Within these different planets, we can meet several human factions, which we can join or not according to our desires. We will also meet characters who will accompany us during our quests and who may be among our crew.

Like a certain No Man’s Sky, we will also have the opportunity to visit planets uninhabited by humans, but rich in resources to collect. All these trips will be made from space on board our ship, sometimes with space combat which obviously does not lack spice, as well as combat on foot, in a jetpack, or even in zero gravity.

In addition to a milky way of information shared around its new flagship game, Bethesda of course did not miss the opportunity to present in particular the so-called Constellation edition of Starfield. The studio was indeed quite proud to say that it will notably contain a replica of the connected watch that our character will wear in game. This edition will also come with its share of goodies, as well as early access to five days, i.e. the 1er next September.

In partnership with Xbox, which now owns the ZeniMax Media group, we also got a preview of the official controller and headset in the colors of the game. These are of course limited edition models, available for sale now at the respective prices. from 74.99 and 124.99 euros. Both can be found in particular on the official Xbox store.

In any case, you are ready for take-off, Starfield committing to the launch pad for a launch scheduled for September 6th. And given what Bethesda presented to us this evening, we still have small stars (bugged?) in our eyes. Verdict in three short months!
