Filming for the upcoming third part of the “Knives Out” film series has finally begun. This was announced by both the streaming service Netflix and director Rian Johnson, 50, via Instagram and X. And not only that: fans can now also catch a first glimpse of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”.

Daniel Craig aka Benoit Blanc with a completely new hairstyle

A first look photo in black and white shows “James Bond” star Daniel Craig, 56, in his legendary “Knives Out” role of private detective Benoit Blanc – but with a completely new look: He now has long hair and a three-day beard. Before that, Benoit Blanc was known to have short hair and a clean shave. His elegant clothing style has remained, however, and Daniel Craig can be seen in the photo in his usual suit with waistcoat, hat and tie.

Production “has officially begun”, announces Netflix also on Instagram. And Rian Johnson announces on X happily: “Aaaand here we go! Today is the first day of filming for the next Benoit Blanc crime thriller ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ – see you on the other side.”

Top-class cast in “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”

As in the first two parts, the cast of the third part is also more than impressive. In addition to Daniel Craig, “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” features Josh O’Connor, 34, Glenn Close, 77, Josh Brolin, 56, Mila Kunis, 40, Jeremy Renner, 53, Kerry Washington, 47, Andrew Scott, 47, Cailee Spaeny, 25, Daryl McCormack, 31, and Thomas Haden Church, 63. As with the first two films, Rian Johnson is responsible for the direction and screenplay.

The story of “Knives Out 3” is not yet known. A Netflix launch should not be expected before 2025. The first part, “Knives Out: Murder is a Family Affair,” came out in 2019 and the second part, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” in 2022.
