Apple’s next mixed reality headset may be released a little later than expected.
This product, which could take the name of Reality Pro, is so important for the Cupertino company that Tim Cook pushed for its launch as soon as possible, against the advice of the design team. But if the pressure is high, it should still come out later than expected.
Rather towards the end of the year?
So, when will we be entitled to the new mixed reality headset that has been rumored for several years? Until recently, we expected a formalization in June, during the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC). A date which would then have allowed the official launch during the back-to-school keynote.
But, according to the always well-informed insider Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple would have encountered new difficulties on its product, and should still suffer new delays. The mass production of the Reality Pro would thus have been postponed to the middle or even the end of the third quarter of 2023. This still leaves hope for marketing before the end of the year.
A flop for the first edition?
These problems do not leave analysts very optimistic. For Ming-Chi Kuo, the Reality Pro could not revive the famous “ iphone moment », and would be a flop, with potential sales which he estimates at 200 to 300,000 units sold. Mark Gurman, another journalist very familiar with Apple news, was already expecting a ” missed » while he thought to see the helmet sold to the tune of around 1 million copies.
It must be said that the price at which this first edition would be sold does not necessarily make you want to try the adventure. There were several rumors of headphones being priced at $3,000, while Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple’s new invention could be sent to stores to be offered at a price between 3,000 and 4,000. dollars. Who would then be ready to empty their bank account for this helmet?
