Starts on Monday – Salzburgers are ready for the oral Matura

The final oral exams will also start in Salzburg on Monday. While 3026 high school graduates have to face the oral exam in the coming weeks, the Chamber of Labor criticizes the process and wants final project work.

Before the 3,026 Salzburg high school graduates finally embark on their final trip to the south or across Europe, they still have to face the oral high school diploma, which starts on Monday. Although this is also regulated centrally – like the written Matura, which took place in May – the exam dates are regulated individually at the schools. Some high school graduates like Benjamin Seeber look back positively on the written exams and are already looking forward to the oral ones. But there is also criticism of this year’s Matura. Not only on the tasks of the mathematics Matura, which according to the students and teachers in Salzburg was more difficult than in previous years (the “Krone” reported). Criticism also rains down from the Chamber of Labor (AK). Chamber of Labor calls for reform of the Matura According to the AK, the central Matura would make the path into professional life more difficult and would have to be rebuilt. In addition, a stronger focus should be placed on individual career orientation and skills of the high school graduates. Peter Eder, President of AK Salzburg, would be in favor of a new system of oral and written Matura. The man from Salzburg is not alone in this. The AK Vienna also calls for a reform.
