State of Play: all Sony’s PS5 and PS VR2 announcements


Despite the end of E3 and in the absence of new licensed games known from Sony to present for 2025, the PS5 manufacturer had some interesting announcements in its bag on Thursday evening. Between new features on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2, or even ports to PC, here is what to remember from the State of Play conference in May 2024.

Some new features on PS5 to whet your appetite

Sony opened hostilities with a brand new 5v5 FPS that looks like Guardians of the Galaxybaptized Concord. The publisher had the good taste to reveal a cinematic as well as gameplay for this title from Firewalk Studios coming on August 23, after a beta in July.

Not much finer, we were then treated to the presentation of Dynasty Warriors: Originscoming in 2025. This is obviously a beat-them-all from Omega Force.

Sony followed up with announcements of two games, Infinity Nikki And Ballad of Antara. The last seems to evolve towards souls-like, while the first is certainly more magical.

Fans of open-world action-adventure RPGs with a certain amount of difficulty will keep an eye out for Where Winds Meetwhile Marvel Rivals And Path of Exile 2 also had technical things to announce (respectively a closed beta for July and early access).

The main course : Silent Hill 2

The big part of this conference was undoubtedly the remake of Silent Hill 2. The game thus revealed part of its gameplay but also its release date: see you on October 8 on PS5.

Another piece of choice, Monster Hunter Wilds from Capcom was revealed for the first time before its release in 2025 on PS5.

To close its conference, Sony decided to show Astrobot, a full-fledged, full-fledged game based on the PS5’s short game/tech demo designed to show off the capabilities of the DualSense controller. Released on September 6, with Astro Bot Kratos inside.

PS VR2 is here

Despite appearances, the PS VR2 has not been forgotten. The proof with the presentations (without release dates) of Skydance’s Behemoth And Alien Rogue Incursion. How to enjoy the headset on PC with the future adapter for PS VR2?

New ports on PC

Finally, Sony has not forgotten PC gamers, certainly there when it comes to getting their hands on games formerly exclusive to consoles, like Ghost of Tsushima recently.

First of all, expected next fall without further details, the PS4 slasher Until Dawn will arrive on PS5 and PC in an improved version. Remember that a film adaptation is also in the pipeline.

Even bigger piece, God of War Ragnarok will arrive on PC on September 19. Free DLC/epilogue God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla will obviously be there. No trace of Spider-Man 2 on the other hand.
