State of Play: Here is the complete summary of the announcements (Tekken 8, Yakuza Ishin, God of War…)

We were expecting Sony to speak in September, but we were hoping for more of a Playstation Showcase quite massive rather than a State of Play of about twenty minutes. But no matter, it was time for the manufacturer to organize a new program to tell us a bit about the future, and especially about God of War Ragnarok coming out shortly. So 10 games were presented, and casually, there was plenty to do. Here are all the takeaways from the State of Play for September 13.

The fight to start well

There’s nothing like a big announcement to get a show off to a good start, like Nintendo a few hours earlier with its Fire Emblem Engage. Here PlayStation released the map tekken 8 with an impressive first video.

The latter showed us an extract from the story mode of the game with a fight between Jin and Kazuya, with confirmation that it is indeed in-game that we see, and the least we can say is that the visual improvements are noticeable between this episode and Tekken 7.

This will be a real next-gen episode, since it will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. On the other hand, you will have to be patient, the game has not even indicated an exit window for the moment.

Some games already announced give news

We were then treated to a short passage devoted to the PlayStation VR 2 with two quick announcements. This is Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition who showed us some pictures before moving on to Demeoa virtual reality board game that will be available for Sony’s headset.

Among the games we had already seen, there was Hogwarts Legacy who came to do his promotion by showing us that PlayStation players were going to be entitled to an exclusive questwhich will lead them to a horror shop within Hogsmeade.

Stellar blade 5

Project Eve was also back, with two announcements in addition to its new story-centric trailer. First, don’t call it Project Eve anymore, but Stellar Blade. A new name for a new life, since we also learn that the title will now be published by Sonywhich means that it becomes in passing a console exclusive for the PlayStation 5 (so we should also have it on PC).

We were treated to a very brief digression on the new program called PlayStation Stars, which aims to give rewards to the most frequent PlayStation gamers and gamers. This will result in particular in digital collectibles, of which we have seen a few examples in this State of Play. The service should be launched in the coming weeks in Europe.

Quite unexpected announcements

Like a dragon ishin ann 09 13 22 6

This State of Play revealed the existence of several new titles, starting with an up-to-date update of Yakuza Ishinwith a remake named Like a Dragon: Ishin!.

This somewhat special episode taking place around the 1860s was released in 2014 only in Japan, and its remake will repair this injustice while giving a facelift to the title. This remake will take advantage of the Unreal Engine 4, and instead of sticking mandals in the streets, here you can unleash your katana and firearm. The release of the game is planned for the month of February 2023.

rise of the ronin screeneditor 7

We stay on the side of Japan with Team Ninja, not to talk about Wo Longbut Rise of the Ronin, a brand new license. This action-RPG will also take place at the end of the 19th century, at the end of the Bakumatsu, and will make us embody a ronin free of his choices in a big open world. We were able to see some in-game sequences which are reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima at times, even if the title promises to be very different given its particular era.

The game has now been in development for 7 years, but that doesn’t mean it’s ready for release. It took a long time to be well defined (and Team Ninja is already busy), and it will not be released until 2024 on PS5.

Pacific drive announcement screen 2 8

Among the other announcements, we note the atypical game from Ironwood Studios, named Pacific Drive. It will be a survival-oriented road-trip in first-person view, where we will visibly have to flee from natural and even supernatural disasters aboard our car.

This means that our vehicle will be at the center of the whole experience, and it will have to be improved to move forward and solve the mysteries along the way. The release is scheduled for 2023 on PS5, but also on PC.

Synduality screen editor 6 9

Finally, the latest innovation from Bandai Namco is Synduality. It will be an action game where you control a mech in a dystopian world, and where humanity is almost entirely extinguished following a destructive rain.

We will be accompanied by an artificial intelligence named Magus, who will give you consoles and who will help you in combat. The mecha will obviously be customizable, and we are even promised PvP. Synduality is currently planned for 2023 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

Ragnarok is here

god of war ragnarok 5 10

The highlight of the show was expected, but as for Zelda, we were a bit desperate to see it. But God of War Ragnarok came to put an end to this State of Play, not without making us a little pretense first by presenting us with a DualSense controller in the colors of the game.

But after that, it was a nice big story-focused trailer that was revealed to us, and this one didn’t disappoint. Between epic fights, breathtaking locations, a staging that commands respect and a plot that makes you curious, not to mention music that has something to stick with the chills, this trailer hit the mark. Nothing more to note here, no particular announcement, but it was probably enough to quench the thirst of the fans.

It is probably because we expected nothing that we are finally quite surprised by this State of Play, which is certainly not memorable but which still had some big cartridges to send. We now wonder if a PlayStation Showcase will take place before the end of the year, but this show has something to make us wait a little more quietly.
