State support – Heating cost subsidy can be applied for from Monday

From Monday you can apply for the heating cost subsidy for the coming winter. The subsidy was recently increased to 330 euros. The income limits for beneficiaries have also been raised.

In order to support low-income households in particular, the heating subsidy was increased this year from 270 euros to 330 euros, i.e. by 22 percent. “In the current situation, the heating cost subsidy is an important supplementary social benefit, with which we are primarily helping older people with low pensions as well as those receiving housing assistance and minimum income support,” explained Social Minister Katharina Wiesflecker. Governor Markus Wallner also emphasizes that low-income people are “under enormous pressure due to the high energy prices and the approaching winter”. Wallner and Wiesflecker expect that around 17,000 households can now be supported, around 5,000 more than in previous years. Starting today, the heating cost subsidy can be applied for – at the municipal office of the respective place of residence. The municipalities are then reimbursed for the expenses by the state. The income limits are as follows: Persons living alone: 1371 euros, in cases of hardship 1508 euros. Two adults: 2057 or 2263 euros. Single parents with one child: 1783 or 1961 euros. Two adults, two children: 2881 or 3169 euros. For each additional person living in the household: an additional 412 euros.
