The visit promises to be dense. Emmanuel and his wife Brigitte Macron are traveling to the United States this week. Visit to NASA headquarters, dinner in Washington, passing through New Orleans… For this three-day state visit, the President of the Republic will not have time to rest.

The visit is highly symbolic. Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, inflation and the trade war, Emmanuel Macron travels to the United States for three days. For this first day of visit, the President of the Republic is expected at NASA headquarters where he will talk about space cooperation with the Vice-President of the United States Kamala Haaris.

For the occasion, the French president will be accompanied by the two French astronauts Thomas Pesquet and Sophie Adenos. Then, head to the Capitol where a lunch is organized with the biodiversity group of the American Congress to discuss the energy transition. Emmanuel Macron will then go to the Arlington Military Cemetery. He will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, before going to decorate American World War II veterans at the French Embassy.

A first “private” dinner with the Bidens

The presidential couple will share a first dinner with Joe and Jill Biden in the evening. A private dinner that should take place in a restaurant in Washington.

Because it is only this Thursday that Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron will be received at the White House with all the ceremonial pomp – national anthems, review of the troops and 21 cannon shots – before the State dinner, in the presence of several hundred guests. The high point of the visit before the head of state flew to New Orleans on Friday, where he intends to defend the Francophonie. Emmanuel Macron will then be the third French president to go there, after Charles de Gaulle and Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.
