Status S: The Ukrainian refugees deserve clarity

It is correct that the protection status S for Ukrainian refugees is being reviewed. However, cancellation is not an option.

It is slowly dawning on the authorities that the story will take a different turn: parasols in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

The dying in Ukraine never ends. But solidarity with the refugees is reaching its limits. Host families want to get rid of their Ukrainian refugees, and the cantons have to reorganize the accommodation in thousands of cases. The problems will certainly not get any smaller in the coming months. In eastern Ukraine, the war continues with undiminished severity and is driving tens of thousands to flee. At the same time, the situation on Europe’s southern border is explosive, and the numbers on the Balkan route are increasing dramatically. The border protection agency Frontex recorded 40,000 illegal crossings on the Balkan route by the end of May.
