With an online concert series, ZDFkultur wants to finally give newcomers the chance to present themselves live in front of an audience.

It has been quiet in the country's clubs for almost twelve months. The event industry has been suffering since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, and the situation has long been threatening the very existence of many employees. ZDFkultur wants to counteract this with a new concert format and "actively support the disused music scene", it says in a message.

The online concert series "Stay Live" is intended to give newcomers the chance to finally present themselves live and in front of an audience in "legendary clubs". There they should then meet "recognized greats" from pop, rock or hip-hop. Shooting should start in February. A total of 15 concerts are to be recorded, which can then be viewed on the station's homepage from March onwards. An exact date will follow.

A "ramp" for young bands

"The music and club scene is still hard hit by the pandemic. With 'Stay Live' we are turning the boxes on and offering clubs and young bands a ramp to really get started again after Corona," explains Anne Reidt, Head of the main editorial office Culture on ZDF.

The concert and documentary format "Stay Live" is a joint production with the non-profit support organization "Initiative Musik" and is part of #BEATCovid. In the future, ZDF will bundle its program efforts in the field of culture under this hashtag.
