Steam and Nintendo seem to be increasing restrictions on the publication of erotic games

Publisher Gamuzumi, which specializes in adult games, announced last month on Twitter that its latest sprawling shmup was unlikely to be able to be released on the Nintendo Store, which would change its distribution practices. Confirmation from the Japanese company finally fell a few days ago: Nintendo now refuses to publish games featuring nudity. In addition to Hot Tentacles Shootit’s also Elves Christmas Hentai Puzzle which was refused by Nintendo on the grounds that we could see the breasts of the female characters staged. Fortunately, says the publisher, there are other platforms to publish this kind of content, such as Steam. It is true that Valve has never seemed too careful about erotic games, going so far as to catalog them using specific search tools.

However, Spike Chunsoft announced in a statement a few days ago that the publication of Chaos;Head Noah / Chaos;Child Double Pack on Steam was going to be canceled due to a “change of guidelines requiring a change of content” on the game.

Without elaborating on the nature of this change, the publisher leaves it to the speculation of observers to determine which part of Valve’s rules the title may have violated. Since the game is published on Switch, it seems that it is not a concern for total nudity, but a concern for the representation of characters characterized as too young (the game happens like a lot of visual novels in a high school) to be represented suggestively.
