The YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead is known for his predictions and this time he claims to have heard about a new chip that should succeed the “Van Gogh” APU built into the Steam Deck.
According to the YouTuber, this chip shows similarities with the “Phoenix Point” APU, which is supposed to combine GPU and CPU cores for laptops via RDNA 3 architecture in 2023.
The current Steam Deck still has an APU based on RDNA 2, so a relatively large leap in performance can be expected with a possible release of a Steam Deck 2.

The Steam Deck comes with a docking station, like the one on the Nintendo Switch, but this is delayed. A fan does not want to put up with this and simply prints a model out of a 3D printer himself.
According to the leaker, a Steam Deck 2 could increase CPU performance by 50 percent and graphics by 60 percent.
However, the APU successor should not appear until the end of 2023, which is why the release of a Steam Deck successor with these components would not be realistic until 2024. But hopefully by then with a suitable docking station.
