STEAM DECK

You can use Steam Deck as a console with a docking station whose release has been postponed, like Nintendo Switch. Because a fan doesn’t accept the shift, he simply builds the device himself.

  • A fan builds a docking station to the steam deck.
  • The station has USB 3.0, HDMI and LAN ports.
  • Valve’s original docking station is much more extensively equipped.

Matching the Steam Deck, there is a docking station that lets you use the handheld PC as a console, similar to the Nintendo Switch.

But some time ago Valve announced that the release date of the docking station would be postponed indefinitely.

However, the Reddit user Hannover2k did not want to do without a hybrid handheld and quickly built a docking station with a 3D printer.

He has expanded the print result with two USB 3.0 ports, an SD and MicroSD slot as well as HDMI and LAN ports. In addition, he can charge his Steam Deck directly on the docking station with a USB-C cable.

This means that the self-made docking station is not as extensively equipped as the original that Valve announced, but it is certainly sufficient to bridge the gap until the release.
