In its latest version, currently in beta, Steam improves on two fronts: its shopping cart system and its privacy. We detail these welcome changes.

Valve has just released what will likely be Steam’s last update of the year. This is only available in beta at the moment. You will therefore have to wait a few weeks to be able to take advantage of it, or activate the option in the software. The leading service for dematerialized computer games is improving its basket, which has so far been perfected, but also its privacy system around games.

A better-designed basket to buy your games

For Christmas, yours truly wanted to buy the same game for several people, including some in this small list. This required making one purchase at a time. Tedious. From now on, the basket supports simplified sending of gifts: it is possible to buy gifts for several loved ones (and for yourself), without having to make several purchases, while personalizing the messages associated with each one.

In addition, the items in your shopping cart will now be synchronized across your devices, computers and mobile terminals. Finally, when purchasing a game, it is now possible to directly add this title privately to your account. Which brings us to the second improvement in this Steam update.

Reinforced privacy on Steam

If you purchase a game privately, it will be added to your account, but invisible to your contacts. They will not see that you own the title in question, but will also hide your in-game status, your playing time and your in-game activity. More useful than the already existing option to hide a game from yourself in its entirety. library, and practical for keeping your profile open and not making it entirely private, while avoiding revealing too much.

Especially since it is of course possible to define a game as private after purchasing it. To do this, on the application go to the game in question, then Settings then Manage, or go to your list of games on your profile on the web. To conclude its post, Valve finally declares that it is working on other updates related to payment.
