With Monster Hunter Rise, a new offshoot of the popular action RPG series was released last year – but only for the Nintendo Switch for the time being. Now the game has also found its way to the PC and is conquering the Steam bestsellers there.

Monster Hunter Rise: Switch hit takes off on Steam

Actually appeared Monster Hunter Rise already on March 26, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch, but in a few days the popular action RPG will celebrate its second release. Since January 12, 2022 PC players can also join the battle against the numerous monsters of the latest main branch of the series – and the interest in the PC port seems to be very high if you take a look at the current Steam bestseller list.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently occupying there the second place and is just behind God of War, which was just released for the PC (source: Steam).

Compared to the switch version, the PC version of Monster Hunter Rise looks even more stylish. You can see for yourself in the official trailer:

PC version: There could have been more

Compared to the Switch version, PC players with the appropriate hardware can use a much better resolution, a higher frame rate and beautified textures.

However, there is a big downer for all players who have already played Monster Hunter Rise on the switch and are now thinking about switching to the PC version. Because Capcom already announced in October 2021 that it will not be able to transfer his save from the handheld console to the computer. In other words, PC gamers will have to start the game all over again and will not be able to import their characters or gear from the Switch version.

You can find out whether Monster Hunter Rise could also be worthwhile for you by taking a look at the official demo and our test:

There will also be no crossplay support. So PC players will only be able to play with other PC players, Switch players will also have to keep to themselves. That should annoy some potential customers. However, this does not seem to bother the majority of players – otherwise Monster Hunter Rise would probably not have climbed to second place in the Steam charts so quickly. We are curious to see how long digital monster hunting can defend this place and who will inherit the game afterwards.
