Steam: These 3 games over 10 years old that still have gigantic communities

You may or may not be surprised to learn that these 3 games are in the top 10, and even the top 7, most played games of all time on Steam — according to SteamDB.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Unsurprisingly, it is CS:GO who finds himself number 1 of this selection. Released a little over 10 yearsand himself from Counter-Strikewho now has 22 years old (it doesn’t make us any younger) count 713,198 concurrent players on Steam right now and 925,270 players in the last 24 hours.

CS:GO breaks all records, with approximately 200,000 viewers on Twitch at the time this article is written, and a big presence on the esports scene for many years.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is even officially the most played game on the Steam platform.

Team Fortress 2

The legendary multiplayer FPS, Team Fortress 2was developed by Valve and launched the October 10, 2007making him a title likely older than most current players in Fortnite (yes it’s a joke that we risk repeating, sorry).

Forerunner of games like Valorant and OverwatchTF2 was ahead of its time when it came out with its explosive and hilarious characters, which we find today in a whole bunch of memes.

As we write these lines, Team Fortress 2 has 97,400 concurrent players on Steam, 15 years after its release. Not bad !

DOTA 2

Between 600,000 and 800,000 people played DOTA 2 every day last week. Well, okay, we cheated a bit on this one since it’s only 9 years old (it came out in 2013 for math dummies). But for those who don’t know, DOTA 2 is the sequel to Defense of the Ancientswho was himself a mod created by the community on Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos which dates from 2002.

Naturally, this is a game selection on Steam, ie all games that depend on another platform or another client are not part of the list. Of course we don’t forget World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Minecraft or Robloxwhich are potentially at the top of the ranking of “old” games with the largest communities with millions of players to their assets, and which may be the subject of their own list, who knows!

If we had to choose one of the most worrying subjects of recent years, it is certainly that of ecology and our environment. As our planet survives, more and more companies want to raise awareness, including Mojang Studios through Minecraft.
