The SteamWorld license will soon have the right to a brand new opus, either SteamWorld Build. This was notably announced during the SteamWorld Telegraph: Special Broadcast, January 24, 2023. For this title, the developers of The Station studio (belonging to Thunderful) have decided to offer a gaming experience belonging to the city-builder genre.
On SteamWorld Build, players will have to manage a city, while exploring mines. Indeed, underground exploration is an intrinsic mechanic to the software, and more particularly to its construction/management dimension. In a recent post on Xbox Wire, franchise director Brjánn Siguergeirsson describes the gameplay of SteamWorld Build, which offers a sort of looplike this :
[…] You will not only have to build and manage a city on the surface, but also dig for the materials that will allow you to optimize your resource chains and thus make your city flourish. […]
So, as you will have understood, on SteamWorld Build, it will be just as important to manage what happens on the surface as in the mines, which are made up of several levels: ” Explore, mine, amass, then return to the surface to build and upgrade explains Brjánn Siguergeirsson. Note also thata free demo of SteamWorld Build is currently available on Valve’s platform, Steam.
According to the latest information shared, SteamWorld Build is coming later this year to most gaming platformsnamely on PlayStation consoles, Xbox as well as on PC and Nintendo Switch.
