Steelrising: postponed to September 8, 2022, the French souls-like is revealed

It’s a bit later than the original goal of releasing the game in June, but a look at this gameplay video courtesy of Game Informer suggests that’s probably for the best given the work of optimization that still awaits the studio of Jehanne Rousseau, whose GreedFall was released in September 2019.

Scriptwriter on the game, Jehanne Rousseau also delivers her enlightened comments on this gameplay in the company of Sébastien Di Ruzza (design director) and Ciaran Cresswell (localization director). These few minutes allow in particular to observe to what extent the game of Spiders is inspired by FromSoftware productions. The similarities in the interface are there, but it is above all the statistics sheets that leave no doubt as to the intentions of the studio.

In terms of structure, we are not heading to an open world but to separate levels, the map of Paris allowing you to jump into a vehicle to reach the different destinations of the game. In the event of a boss that is a little too painful, the player could thus go explore another place and then come back stronger. The map also shows that markers will be present to navigate in the management of main quests, side quests and important characters.

Finally, while it may not be an easy game, Spiders would like to make Steelrising an accessible gateway to this type of game for those who have never dared to start.
