The mouse gamer SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless is in all respects identical to its sister with a thread. The only differences logically lie in its connectivity and its weight which is necessarily higher due to the integrated battery.

It is positioned as a multi-gender mouse due to its many buttons and it benefits from an ergonomic shape that was already found on the Rival 5 which we praised at the time of its test. Proposed to recommended price of 150 eurosthe Aerox 5 Wireless is an expensive model that aims for the best models on the market.

Comfort, extra holes

In terms of design and ergonomics, there is almost no difference between the Aerox 5 Wireless and its wired version. We therefore invite you to consult the test of the latter to know everything about it.

Despite this, this wireless version differs on a few points with first of all a weight a little more consequent although very reasonable with 74 grams on the scale. We also note the presence of a power button which also allows you to choose the connection mode.

SteelSeries Engine Features and Driver

In the same way, the features offered by the SteelSeries Engine are identical between the two models. We benefit from a complete driver and offering all the essential functionalities of a good mouse. Intended for wireless use, the Aerox 5 Wireless has settings dedicated to this aspect.

The energy saving options allow in particular to modify the behavior of the lighting as well as to put the mouse on standby after a certain time. SteelSeries has finally changed the behavior of its wireless mice since it is not no more clicking to wake up the Aerox 5 Wireless.

Welcome triple connectivity

The Aerox 5 Wireless has three different connectivity options starting with a 2.4 GHz wireless connection via a dongle dedicated. It is the latter that will offer the best performance, with logically the possibility of using the wired mouse with a braided cable identical to that of the wired version.

The mouse can also be used via Bluetooth for increased compatibility with the vast majority of devices. The performances will logically be less good and we recommend the use of this link for office use or undemanding games.

L’announced autonomy is 180 hours in Bluetooth, although it is difficult to measure it precisely. RGB lighting will logically play an important role and SteelSeries has understood this since it turns off as soon as the mouse is in motion.

During our tests, it was possible to use the mouse for one to two weeks at 2.4 GHz for a few hours of gaming per day. A very correct score compared to other models on the market.

As always, exemplary performance

The 2.4 GHz wireless link suffers from no noticeable latency. We have not noticed any cuts and more generally no problems during use. In fact, the Aerox 5 Wireless offers performance identical to its twin sisterespecially since the two mice share the same optical sensor.

Even better, the slightly higher weight may convince gamers who do not necessarily appreciate ultralight mice and provide a hint of extra control. A significant plus due to the excellent glide provided by the pads that equip the two new SteelSeries models.
