Stefan Raab: These shows are from the TV legend

On September 17th, the show "FameMaker" by Stefan Raab starts. He has been producing these shows since retiring from TV Total.

Today, Thursday (September 17th), a new music show, "FamkeMaker", will start on ProSieben. At 8:15 p.m. Carolin Kebekus (40), Luke Mockridge (31) and Tedros Teclebrhan (37) have to decide on candidates and coach without having heard them sing beforehand. The candidates perform under a soundproof glass dome. Only when a jury member pulls the lever does the dome rise and the singing can be heard. The coaches then have to prepare an appearance for the final with their respective candidate. Tom Neuwirth (31), who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 as Conchita Wurst, will act as the presenter.

Behind the idea is none other than TV legend Stefan Raab (53). The 53-year-old has not shown himself in front of TV cameras since he retired from show business in 2015 – but he continues to act in the background. These shows are on his cap.

"The thing of the year"

The inventor show "Das Ding des Jahres" has been running on ProSieben's screens since 2018. Stefan Raab not only had the idea for the format, but is also the producer. In "The Thing of the Year" inventors compete against each other in duels. In the final, the audience votes on the best innovation. The winner can look forward to prize money of 100,000 euros. In the first season, the winner was able to look forward to an advertising deal worth 2.5 million euros.

The inventions presented will be assessed by a team of experts consisting of model Lena Gercke (32), moderator Joko Winterscheidt (41) and Rewe purchasing manager Hans-Jürgen Moog. Amorelie founder Lea-Sophie Cramer (33) has been on board since the second season. The jury makes personal recommendations, but the decision is made by the audience. The third season went on air on March 29, 2020. It was the first time that young people competed against each other, out of competition, and presented a total of ten inventions. The station has not yet announced whether a fourth season is planned.

"The 1st Headis Team World Championship"

In the course of his career, Stefan Raab developed formats such as the "Wok World Cup" or "Schlag den Raab". Another successful show of the entertainer followed on March 23rd with "Die 1. Headis Team-WM". It was a "header table tennis" tournament. In this sport, two opponents play a rubber ball back and forth on a table tennis table, but are only allowed to use their heads. A total of six teams, each consisting of a Headis professional and a celebrity, competed against each other.

Also in the party: Axel Stein (38), Mario Basler (51), Kai Pflaume (53), Thore Schölermann (35), Tom Beck (42) and Giovanni Zarrella (42). Elton (49) acted as moderator and Ron Ringguth (54) took on the role of commentator. In the end, Giovanni Zarella and Headis professional "Olaf the Vikings" emerged victorious. It is not yet known whether there will be further editions.

"Free European Song Contest 2020"

The "Eurovision Song Contest 2020" fell victim to the corona pandemic. Without further ado, Stefan Raab set up an alternative program. On May 16, ProSieben broadcast the "Free European Song Contest", or "FreeESC" for short, at prime time. "King of Kotelett" Raab was once again on board as producer and described the show in advance as "the hour of birth of a new, free European song competition". The show was moderated by Steven Gätjen (47) and the Austrian ESC winner from 2014, Conchita Wurst (31).

15 musicians, including Nico Santos (27) and Sarah Lombardi (27), competed for Croatia, Israel, Turkey, Denmark, Switzerland, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Ireland and Kazakhstan and represented their respective homeland. For Germany, Helge Schneider (65) was on stage – but it wasn't enough for victory. In the end, Nico Santos, who competed for Spain, was able to take home the trophy.

New late night show planned

Only two months after the "Free European Song Contest 2020", Stefan Raab announced another TV project – but not for his long-time regular channel ProSieben. The entertainer is producing a new late night show exclusively for the streaming service TVNow. The media group RTL announced on July 20th. "I've been grumbling about other people's programs for 20 years. Now I've found that grumbling is of no use, I have to help personally. And that's exactly the right place for me at TVNow," said Raab at the time.

However, he himself will not lead through the show, but act as a producer behind the scenes. It is not yet known who is on stage as the moderator. The broadcaster also keeps further details or a specific broadcast date under lock and key.

"FameMaker" starts on September 17th at 8:15 pm on ProSieben (also via Joyn). Another four shows are on the air on Thursdays and Saturdays at prime time. The finals will take place on October 1st.
