Will Stefan Raab (57) really make a big TV comeback? In two mysterious videos on his Instagram account he announced that he might return from retirement. On Easter Monday he dropped the bombshell: He still had a score to settle – with the former boxing world champion Regina Halmich (47), whom he asked again to a duel. He wants to get into the ring with her for the third time – that should happen on September 14th, tickets will be available from April 2nd at 3 p.m.

Or is the announcement simply an April Fool’s joke, since the second video was published on Easter Monday of all days, i.e. April 1, 2024? So far, a lot is still completely unclear, but now for the first time the ex-boxing world champion Halmich herself commented on a possible fight against Raab.

She posted a picture of herself on her Instagram account and wrote: “First the bad news: Stefan will only come back if I fight him. And now the good news: I don’t have anything better to do on September 14th. We have a fight!” She garnished her post with a kind of stamp that reads “Challenge accepted”. But there is still no real confirmation of the fight. Particularly noteworthy: Regina Halmich also shared the official Raab spot from April 1st on her Instagram profile.

What did Raab and Halmich do after their careers ended?

Raab withdrew completely from TV at the end of 2015 and only occasionally acted as a producer behind the scenes. In his years of work as an entertainer, he has already competed against Halmich twice in show fights. For the first time in 2001, the rematch took place in March 2007. Halmich triumphed over Raab both times.

The athlete ended her professional career in 2007 and then occasionally worked as a boxing expert on TV broadcasts of major fights. In 2010 and 2011 she also hosted the second and third seasons of the weight loss show “The Biggest Loser”, which was still broadcast on Kabel Eins at the time.
