Stefanie Giesinger has been a popular model and successful influencer since her victory at GNTM. She is now using her wide reach for a topic that is close to her heart: acceptance of one’s own supposed flaws.

Actually, Stefanie Giesinger, 25, only wanted to show her latest accessory, small rhinestones on her teeth, to her 4.3 million Instagram followers. When looking at the photos, which show her mouth in close-up, she apparently noticed some supposed blemishes on her face. Instead of retouching them, the model deliberately refers to them and sends out an important message to her followers.

Stefanie Giesinger campaigns for a taboo topic

Stefanie Giesinger has had small rhinestones glued on around her canine tooth, which she proudly shares with her followers. Much more important than the new jewelry is what she writes about the pictures. “She has a lady’s beard, nose hair and outgrown nails,” it says.

On the next slide, she cites another flaw that she also proudly shows off for the camera: her monobrow. “Who cares?” (In German: “Who cares?”) she adds. But as lightly as she seems to take all of this today, she obviously had to suffer as much from it when she was young. Because in another text field, the GNTM winner writes who the supposed mistakes were very interested in – namely her classmates …

“The Girl Who Was Bullied at School For It”

“The girl who was bullied for it at school” is written there and it becomes clear that Stefanie apparently had to listen to a lot about it when she was at school. Today she doesn’t care, she’s good in business, happily forgiven and has outgrown self-doubt. With her stories, her honesty about the fact that she doesn’t look like her model photos in real life, the 25-year-old brings an important topic to the table. Because young people and adolescents in particular need role models who convey to them that reality and the perfection of social media have hardly anything in common, that on Instagram in particular a lot more fake than honesty is proclaimed and that supposed flaws are not exactly that, but just that are human. “To my cuties with more body and facial hair: you are beautiful! Don’t let anything else convince you,” writes the GNTM winner from 2014 to her followers.

Haters are up in arms

As her stories progress, Stefanie then shares screenshots of her inbox and it becomes clear that she still has to deal with the nastiest comments today. The worst abuse and insults hit her, but many of her followers are also relieved that there is someone who addresses their problems openly.
