Together with seven other celebrity women, Stefanie Hertel pulls naked in "Showtime of my Life". For a good cause.

"Anyone who expects" Showtime of my Life "to be a strip show shouldn't tune in at all," says Stefanie Hertel, 41, in an interview. This is important to her, after all, it's about much more than bare skin. "I'm taking part in this show format to draw attention to the topic of prevention and breast cancer," explains the singer.

Stefanie Hertel: "I've already seen a burlesque show"

BRIGITTE: How much courage did it take you to take part in the show?
Stefanie Hertel: At first I actually hesitated, but when I watched the "Showtime" videos from other countries and looked more closely at the subject of breast cancer screening, I was quickly convinced. I was also deeply impressed by the conversation with Nicole Staudinger.

Thousands of people watch you in front of the TV as you slowly undress. A weird feeling?
Those who expect a strip show from "Showtime of my Life" shouldn't tune in at all. The choreographies, which are rehearsed and implemented by the participants, are intended to draw the audience's attention to the concerns of the show in addition to informative contributions and experience reports of those affected with aesthetic performances and are by no means disreputable! I take part in this show format to draw attention to the topic of prevention and breast cancer.

In 2012 you took part in "Let's Dance". Are you currently benefiting from this experience?
In any case. Since then I have also enjoyed dancing at my concerts and TV shows, which is why I can remember choreos very well.

What is the biggest challenge for you?
Not to forget the choreography. (laughs)

"I went to cancer screening as a teenager"

Have you ever seen a strip show?
Yeah, I've actually seen a burlesque show before. That can be eroticand doesn't have to go below the belt. The artists do not completely undress, but only remove certain items of clothing. Even taking off gloves can be extremely attractive when performed skillfully. I also grew up in the GDR, where FFK beaches were completely normal. Dropping covers in public and in front of the camera, of course, cannot be compared with that. But by overcoming inhibitions in our dance performances, we would like to encourage people to take the step to preventive care and to take advantage of the opportunities offered for examinations without false shame.

When did you start going for cancer screening?
I went to cancer screening as a teenager, the first time I went to the gynecologist I had myself examined. I didn't know then how crucial these few minutes can be. Because it is especially young women and men who develop cancer, which should not be underestimated. For example, this is an insight that I already gained from preparing for the show.

"Showtime of my Life" runs on VOX on February 1st and 2nd at 8:15 pm. A total of 16 prominent women and men strip to convey the message: "If we can undress in front of an audience of millions, then you can do it all the more with cancer screening in front of your doctor!"
