In her speech at the “Romy” award ceremony in Austria, actress Stefanie Reinsperger appealed for less stereotypical cast of female roles.

Actress Stefanie Reinsperger is known in Germany for her role as Rosa Herzog in the crime series “Tatort” from Dortmund. Reinsperger was awarded the Austrian “Romy” prize for the most popular actress in a series for her performance in the Salzburg “Landkrimi” titled “Flammenmädchen”. She uses her speech at the award to speak out against the stereotypical cast of women’s roles that makes people like herself invisible.

In her speech, the “Tatort” actress makes it clear that women who do not meet certain ideals of beauty are hardly represented in film and television. “It’s still the case that women like me aren’t visible enough,” she says in her video message for the “Romy” gala, which took place on Saturday, April 23, 2022 in Vienna. “Write the roles, write us these stories!” is her direct message to writers in the film and television industry.

The 34-year-old recently published a book entitled “Pretty Angry”, which addresses the hostility towards her appearance. “It’s enough with discrimination and attacks on me and my body, which is said to be not beautiful enough!” Says the author and actress.

“Romy” award for “Flame Girl”

The television film “Flammenmädchen” from the “Landkrimi” series is the third case for Reinsperger’s character Franzi Heilmayr: In a small community in Pongau, a fire devil is up to mischief that nobody can catch. When first barns and finally even an old house go up in flames, in which the investigators find a charred corpse, the clues point in all possible directions. The film has already been shown on the Austrian ORF, and a broadcast on German television is planned for May 23 on ZDF.
