Stellan Skarsgard: Is the actor in the "Rogue One" spin-off?

With "The Mandalorian" Disney has released one of the hottest series in recent months. The sci-fi series from the "Star Wars" universe can be seen exclusively on the in-house streaming service Disney +. Now two actors for an upcoming, still nameless spin-off to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" seem to have been found.

In addition to Diego Luna (40), Stellan Skarsgard (68, "Dune") and Kyle Soller (36) are also in discussion for roles in the spin-off, according to a report by the industry magazine "Variety". Disney's negotiations with Skarsgard and Soller are on their last legs. However, the group did not want to comment on this yet.

When can production start?

The screenplay for the pilot episode of the "Rogue One" spin-off should therefore be taken care of by Tony Gilroy (63), who is also expected to direct several episodes. Stephen Schiff is said to be the show runner.

According to the report, it is planned to publish the new 2021 series. At the moment, however, it is questionable whether the schedule could be kept due to the corona virus. It is also currently not known when the production can start. In addition to the spin-off, a second season of "The Mandalorian" is also planned, as is a series about Obi Wan-Kenobi, which will again be played by Ewan McGregor (49, "Trainspotting").
