Stellantis: investments in test centers

(CercleFinance.com) – Stellantis announced on Monday that it had invested 33 million euros in two vehicle test centers, with the aim of supporting its development strategy in electric vehicles.

The automotive group says it has devoted an amount of 29.5 million euros to the expansion of its wind tunnel in Auburn Hills, Michigan (USA).

The site has thus equipped itself with a mobile floor technology making it possible to simulate movement on the road and to carry out more exact aerodynamic measurements.

The ‘Safety Center’ in Orbassano, based near Turin (Italy), has meanwhile been significantly upgraded to accommodate four test tracks with four impact points and capabilities to fully test battery electric vehicles ( BEV) and autonomous driving technology.

This investment of five million euros should give the site the ability to test all types of electrified vehicles: mild-hybrid, rechargeable hybrid and battery-electric vehicles.

The site, which currently performs at least two crash tests a day, is on track to test more than 275 electrified vehicles this year.
