Stellantis: Unveils Storage Battery Prototype

(CercleFinance.com) – Stellantis announced yesterday that after four years of design, modeling and simulation, a team of twenty-five engineers and researchers from CNRS, Stellantis and Saft, had unveiled an innovative prototype energy storage battery integrating the functions of inverter and charger.

‘This integration creates a more efficient battery, which improves the range of battery electric vehicles and is more reliable and less expensive. It also frees up space in the vehicle,” says Stellantis.

Called IBIS (‘Intelligent Battery Integrated System’), this project has made it possible to validate many new technical concepts and to master their control and operation with a view to automotive or stationary applications.

‘In the field of electromobility, the IBIS project is about to achieve a real paradigm shift in the design of electric powertrains,’ the manufacturer believes.
