Stephan Orlac: Star from "The Wicherts from Next Door" has died

Stephan Orlac is dead. The German actor, known from "The Wicherts from Next Door", died on November 1st at the age of 89.

Stephan Orlac died at the age of 89. The German TV star died on November 1st with his family, as Orlac's agent Christina Gattys confirmed to the "Bild" newspaper on Thursday (November 5th). He retired from public life a few years ago, but he was still happy to answer his fans' autograph requests, the agent said.

Numerous TV roles

Orlac, born in Düsseldorf in 1931, devoted himself to acting lessons after leaving school. Orlac made a name for himself at the Schauspielhaus Bochum with roles in various Shakespeare plays and also worked as a theater director. In the mid-1970s, the actor was increasingly seen on TV, including in the series productions "Die Buddenbrooks" (1979), "Parkhotel Stern" (1997-2002) or "Die Wicherts von next door" (1986-1991). Orlac played the head of the family Eberhard Wichert in the popular ZDF format.

In addition, the TV actor was seen in several "Tatort" films and in the multi-part series "Wallenstein" and "A chapter for yourself". He took his last TV role in 1998 in the Rosamunde Pilcher film "Return to Paradise". Orlac was married to fellow actor Elke Arendt (81). The marriage resulted in director and screenwriter Sebastian Orlac (50).
