While a new season of Red Bracelets in the form of a reboot is still in development on the side of TF1, the channel is preparing to launch the filming of a new series entitled Toulouse-Lautrec, which is in the same teenage vein as the series which revealed Esther Valding (Tomorrow belongs to us), Azize Diabate (Here everything begins), or even Audran Cattin (Philharmonia). And will again oscillate between laughter and tears.

Created by Fanny Riedberger, who was notably the artistic producer of En Famille and also worked on Scenes of households and Clem, Toulouse-Lautrec is inspired by a true story and tells the life of a high school like no other.

A high school that welcomes students with disabilities, such as Marie-Antoinette, a bubbly quadriplegic, or Charlie, suffering from a brain tumor. But also valid students, like Victoire, a young teenager forced to join this extraordinary place to follow her brother. And who will, although initially refractory, gradually overcome his prejudices.

Victoire will indeed discover there friendship, love, solidarity. But also to witness the courage and strength of all his comrades, as well as the devotion and altruism of parents and teachers. Everyday heroes who will upset her and change her life forever.

According to our information, it is the young China Thybaud, seen at the cinema in Everything smiles at us, who will camp Victoire, the heroine of Toulouse-Lautrec. While some of the other main roles will be played by teenagers with disabilities whose names have not yet been revealed.

At his side, TF1 viewers will find, among others, Valérie Karsenti, Aure Atika, Stéphane De Groodt, and Rayane Bensetti, who finds here his first recurring role in a series since his departure from Clem in 2017.

The six 52-minute episodes that make up the first season are written by Fanny Riedberger with the collaboration of Eliane Vigneron and Nicolas Mercier. Nicolas Cuche (Les Bracelets rouges) will direct the first two episodes, while Stéphanie Murat (Lies) will be in charge of shooting episodes 3 to 6.

The shooting of Toulouse-Lautrec will begin this Tuesday, May 3 and will take place over several weeks between Île-de-France and Morocco. And it is within the Lycée Erea Toulouse-Lautrec de Vaucresson, where the real story that inspired the series took place, that most of the episodes will be boxed.

The Lycée Erea Toulouse-Lautrec is a Regional Adapted Education Establishment which offers students with motor disabilities adapted schooling, from primary school to high school and higher technician sections, and which also includes medical and paramedical monitoring provided by the Care center.

Produced by Habanita Federation, this new series, which should arrive on the air during the 2022-2023 season, confirms, after Les Bracelets rouges, Here it all begins, or Prometheus, TF1’s desire to address the young audiences by featuring teenagers and young adults in the foreground. While dealing, once again, with a strong and important societal theme such as disability, already at the heart of the TV movie Handigang broadcast this evening on the front page.
