Steve Carell gives his blessing to the new series from the “Office” cosmos. However, he will not appear in the new edition.

Steve Carell (61) is letting the dream of many fans burst: the actor will not be seen in the new “The Office” series. “I’ll watch it, but I won’t show up,” he explained the US industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”. The US streaming service Peacock recently commissioned a new series from the “The Office” universe – the American version of the British mockumentary of the same name, which provided the model for “Stromberg” with Christoph Maria Herbst (58).

“I think it’s going to be great”: Steve Carell gives his blessing

“It’s a new thing and there’s no reason for my character to be in something like that,” Steve Carell continued. The new series is set in the setting of a floundering newspaper in the American Midwest, as the US newspaper “Variety” reports. “The documentary film crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is looking for a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper,” reads a brief synopsis.

Carell likes the concept of the spin-off and is also enthusiastic about the new lead actor Domhnall Gleeson (41): “I did the series ‘The Patient’ with him and he’s an excellent actor and a super nice guy, so I think it is going to be great.”

Steve Carell: Reunion with his “The Office” colleague John Krasinski

In the cinema, however, there is a small “The Office” reunion. In “IF – Imaginary Friends” Steve Carell voices one of the titular imaginary childhood friends. The film is directed by John Krasinski (44), who also wrote the screenplay. Emily Blunt’s husband (41) starred alongside Carell in “The Office” between 2005 and 2013.
