“Saturday Night Live” fans saw Steve Martin as the perfect impersonator of US politician Tim Walz. But Martin turned down an offer.

Steve Martin (78) will not become Tim Walz (60): The comedian has turned down the offer to play the Democratic vice-candidate on “Saturday Night Live”. As the US-American As revealed to the “Los Angeles Times”, “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels (79) had asked him for the role on Wednesday (August 7). Viewers of the show had previously considered Martin to be the favorite for the part of the politician.

“I am not an imitator”

The comedian told the newspaper he was asked solely because of his similar appearance. “I wanted to say no and he wanted me to say no, by the way,” he said of the phone call. “I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impersonator. You need someone who can really do the guy’s job,'” he said, turning down the offer.

The actor also said that he would have to take on the job for a longer period of time. “It’s not like you do it once, get applause and never do it again,” he explained the time investment required. He was not prepared to do that. “They need a real impersonator for that too. They will find someone who is really, really good. I would struggle,” he explained his decision.

Kamala Harris’s cast confirmed

Maya Rudolph (52) appears as Kamala Harris (59) in the NBC comedy show. The industry portal “Deadline” reported last week that the actress would play the presidential candidate again. She played the role of the US Vice President for the first time in 2019. A year later, she received an Emmy for the imitation. She is nominated again for the television award in 2024, including as lead actress for the series “Loot” and as presenter for “SNL”.

Because of her commitment, the “Grown Ups” actress apparently threw her entire schedule around. According to “Deadline”, pre-production of the third season of “Loot” was initially halted. The planned start date was August 26th. According to sources at the portal, the production, which is the responsibility of lead actress Rudolph, was postponed due to scheduling reasons.
