Steven Spielberg: Old master makes new film

After the multiple Oscar-nominated drama “The Fablemans,” Steven Spielberg, 77, has a new project planned. The veteran director is apparently dedicating his new cinema blockbuster to a sci-fi story. The release date has already been set, but fans will have to wait quite a while.

Is the new Spielberg film about UFOs?

What exactly the new film will be about has not yet been officially announced. However, the release date is less mysterious. the industry magazine “Variety” reports, Universal Pictures is planning the theatrical release of the Spielberg project for May 15, 2026. David Koepp, 60, who has worked with Spielberg several times, is writing the script based on a story by the director. He also penned the scripts for the classic “Jurassic Park” and “War of the Worlds” from 2005.

A few weeks ago, unnamed insider sources told the magazine that Spielberg was planning a new project and that it would probably be a UFO film. Fans can probably expect a real blockbuster, regardless of what the film is ultimately about.

After all, Spielberg is known for hits like “Jaws,” “ET: The Extra-Terrestrial,” the “Indiana Jones” series, “Hook” and “Catch Me If You Can.” He received a total of three Academy Awards for “Schindler’s List” and “Saving Private Ryan.” The autobiographical “The Fablemans” received seven nominations at the 95th Oscars, including for best director.
