Still goodwill with controls: The Deutschlandticket still has problems

Still goodwill with controls
There’s still a problem with the Deutschlandticket

Even before the introduction of the Deutschlandticket, the transport associations assumed that not everything would go smoothly. Now there is certainty, especially when it comes to the controls. So far, buyers don’t have to worry.

About a month after the introduction of the Deutschlandticket, there are still technical problems, especially when checking the ticket across network borders. The digital and technical implementation is “not yet fully complete everywhere,” said the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV). According to the association, the transport associations want to eliminate the problems by the end of July.

There have already been delays and problems with the orders and deliveries of the 49-euro ticket in the past. As the “Spiegel” reported on Sunday, there are still technical difficulties when reading out. The reason for this is that the transport associations use different technical systems, which make uniform control difficult. This should not have any consequences for users.

“Passengers who have duly purchased a Germany ticket do not have to worry that they will ultimately have to pay fines of 60 euros through no fault of their own,” said VDV general manager Oliver Wolff. In the first three months, a corresponding goodwill applies to the controls.

“The industry expects that the conversion of the processes, which are currently still causing problems, will be largely completed by the end of July,” it said. A transition phase up to the end of this year had already been agreed before the ticket was introduced.

The Deutschlandticket allows holders to travel on local and regional buses and trains throughout Germany. The subscription has so far cost 49 euros a month and is issued as a mobile phone ticket or chip card.
