Stings: More than 800 complaints filed, no trace of GHB

More than 800 complaints have been filed in France for injections and 1,098 victims have been identified as of June 16, but none of the analyzes carried out has revealed the presence of GHB, AFP learned this Friday from the Directorate of the National Police (DGPN) confirming information from Figaro.

Mystery still complete

The mystery is therefore complete around this phenomenon which has grown with the multiplication of complaints, until creating the beginning of psychosis. Throughout the country, sting attacks in bars, nightclubs, concerts and festivals have been reported, but no evidence has been brought to light by investigators to explain it.

In a census carried out by the Office for the fight against drug trafficking (Ofast) established on June 16, of which AFP was aware, it is reported “about 850 reported facts”, knowing that a fact can concern several stings during the same event. Half of the facts were recorded by the gendarmerie, the other by the police, for a total of “1,098 victims”.

Ofast has been in charge, for a few days, of centralizing “the number of facts and the qualitative elements”, but if investigations were to lead to the highlighting of organized trafficking, the office would seize the Specialized Interregional Jurisdictions (JIRS ) concerned, we added to the DGPN. The analyzes are entrusted to the technical and scientific police.

No cases of “sexual assault or theft following the sting”

In a summary note from the DGPN dated June 7, the editors mention “an operator mode” making no distinction between men and women. The bite marks are on “the arms”, “the buttocks”, “the back”, without the victims seeing their attacker. The note cites “immediate effects” but also “delayed effects” of bites with sometimes “marks of bruises”. The symptoms are varied and range from “headaches” to “hot flashes” to “dizziness” or even “loss of consciousness”.

“When the acts are reported, samples are taken as a priority” even before the filing of a complaint. So far, the analyzes have found “no trace of GHB”, and the victims have not reported any act of “sexual assault or theft following the injection”, it was assured. at the DGPN. It was added that the toxicologist analyzes had sometimes revealed “a blood alcohol level” and / or “traces of cannabis” which the victim had recognized the consumption.
